PREPARATIONS FOR NEW SCHEME.
The Apprentices Act, passed a few days ago, the object of which is to provide machinery whereby the training of learners of trades may be placed on an organised footing, so relieving the dearth of beginners, does not , iT \ to operation until April Ist, IJ-4, but much remains to be done in tne meantime in preparatory work The Minister of Labour (the Hon. G. J. Anderson) is very optimistic about the effect of the new legislation.
