SERrOUS ALLEGATIONS BY MISSIONARY.

(by cable—press association— copyright.) (AUSTRALIAN . AND N.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION.) BRISBANE, August 31. The Rev. J. Paton, a New Hebrides missionary, in a letter, condemnatory of the condominium government of the group, published in the Press, cites several instances where French labour recruiters took native wives against the wishes of their husbands. In one case,, he alleges, there was forcible.abduction. and he makes other serious allegations. He states that husbands have no redress. "And this is the condominium you in. Australia allow." The letter also states that a British subject can also recruit a woman for three months without the consent of her husband. Mr Paton supplies two instances, one of 'a woman who was nursing twins. The children were left in the care of the husband.
