EAST BELT WESLEYAN CHURCH.
At the East Belt Wesleyan Church on Tuesday evening, a Tery enjoyable tea was tendered to the • members of the Ladies' Guild, and other ladies who hato at varioua times helped in the many activities of the church. The tea was given by the t.U3tees, as a. mark of appreciation of the hard work and persistence cf. the members of the Ladies' Guild in raising funds for the upkeep and furtherance of the different need 3 of church work. The Eev. E. D. Patchett was in the chair, and over 70 people did ample justice to the good things so very tastefully arranged on the tables. Mr Patchett. proposed the toast of "The' King." "The Ladies' Guild" was proposed by. Mr ,W,. H. Seed, and' responded to by J; Lamb; "Hie Trustees of the Church" yraa proposed by Sirs Green and responded to by Mr Kershaw} "Our Minister, his Wife and Family" was proposed by Mr W. Sho:ra«; and responded to by Mr Patchett. Otier toa&ts were proposed and replied to iby I Messrs A. E. Sherras, Grey, Brewins, Dickson, Hawkins, Herbert and Caygill Musical items were given by MissE. Orchard, Miss 'Bita. Seed, and a recitation by Mr Weir. "•
Mr W. H. Seed then outlined-proposals, fo? new and urgent work in. connexion wit'a the church and parsonage, for wh'ch funds would bs required. "Work had been on a. new brick fence around tht, church. Two stained glass windows wifk Tentiiators in the west wail and the puinting of;the minister's residence wero necessary xcrks which would be proceeded with when funds permitted. , Mr R. Kershaw spoie of the work ol.tha •Sunday School, and strVssrd tbe cryinjf heed for more modern buildings and improvements as aios in-teaching the youn? scholars. H# proposed, another storey or. the present structure and the removal of the existing back rooms. Tke proposal met with a sympathetic reception aivl when Mr Kershaw announced that the Bum of £BOO had been oollected from various 1 sources, the proposal passed into the realm of practibility.
