ODDFELLOWSHIP.
A meeting of the Loyal Post-Grand's Lodge No. 1, 1.0.0.P., M.IL, was held in the Dicicen's street hall on Tuesday. W.M. Bro. A. W. Saunders presided over a fair attendance It was decided to hold a ladies' night on September 2o£h and to invite the members of the Loyal Sister Pearce Lodge. D.G.M. Bro. G. CuDen, S.D.G.M. Bro. G. Millington, D.S. Bro. T. J. Archbold, P.D.G.M. Bro. A. L. Winter, P.G'b Bro. A. P. W. James and A. Prance (district executive) at f «nded the meeting and were cordially welcomed by the W.M. Apologies were accepted from district treasurer Bro. J. R, Merriman. P.D.G.M.'a Bro. W. Johnston and H. Le Comte and P.G. Bro. H. P. Fabian. The lodge then adjourned for the purpose of giving the Purple Degree. The officers being: N.G.,"D.G.M. Bro. G. Cullen; V.G., D.D.G.M. Bro. C Millington; 1.P.N.G., Bro. A. L. Winter ; P.D.G.M-., E. S. Bro. T. J. Archbold, P.S.; R.S.N.G., Bro W. E. Gahagan, G.M. (New Zealand branch); 1.0.5.N.G.. Bro. A. P. W, Jnmeß., P.G.; R.S.V.G., Bro. T. French, P.G.;. L.N.V.G., Bro. W. J. Beattie, P.G.; Warden, Bro. J. Atkins, P.G.; Tyler, Bro. A. McChisky, P.G. After the candidates, Bros. J. Sutton, T. Harvey, A. D. Fabian, H. Osborne, and L. V. Watson, had been examined in the lesser degrees successfully and had signified their intention of becoming Purple Officers, the warrant was read, and the charge was given, in a very impressive manner by the officers. G.M. Biro. W. R. Gahagan then addressed a few words on the Ideals of the Purple Degree, and how they applied to every-day life, and trusted that the brothers would not lack in their enthusiasm for the work in the Manchester Unity. On behalf of the diam- nd jubilee celebrations committee, the G.M., Bro. W. R. Gahagan, presented to Bro. F. J. Archbold, D.S.; a gold jewel suitably inscribed as a mark of appreciation of his work in connexion with the different functions, the whole of which had - Bfen very successful. The G.M. also Bpoke' in a very eulogistic manner of Bro. Archbold's • work in the district, and the great strides it had made since he was appointed district secretary. P.D.G.M. Bro. A. L. Winter, D.D.G.M. Bro. C. Millington and P.G. Bro. A. F.,W. James also bore testimony to Bro Archbold's good work. Bro. Archbold, in a few chosen words, suitably replied thanking the committee for their, gifts. On resuming business 1 the Past Grand's Lodge initiated four new members, P.G. Bros. Atkins and James acting as conductors.
