METHVEN.
After a period of dry jyeather with hard frosts at night, rain set in on Wednesday night, and in the morning the ground was covered with a iight coating of snow. As rain again commenced, the snow soon disappeared. Hauling plants were making good progress with grain carting, but the paddocks were very wet and soft, necessitating the use of wire ropes. The change in the weather will bring this class of work to a standstill. A lot of farmers are blaming the millers for the late delivery of wheat, as during April and the beginning of May it was practically impossible to get millers to buy the grain, .and these are two of the monfhs in the season when the best weather generally rules. Influenza is prevalent, and more than one business man in the township is confined to bed. The public school is still open, and it is hoped that the attendance will not be affected sufficiently to necessitate closing.
