STOCKBROKER'S SUICIDE.

Bowes-Lyon, a well-known City stockbroker, and a nephew of the Earl of Strathmore, who was found shot dead at the steering-wheel of his motor-car near Woking, was aged 24. He loft letters revealing an unfortunate entanglement with a young woman. The deceased left the dinner-table in evening dress, apparently intending to moke a last call on the lady. Tho family had noticed bis extreme depression, and were in a state of anxiety, hat were unable to do any- ( thing to avert the anticipated disaster. At the inquest a verdict was returned of suicide while of unsound mind. A friend gave evidence that deceased had telephoned to him on Monday evening from a hotel, and said he was going to kill himself. Witness took a taxi to the hotel and rushed to - Bowes-Lyon. The deceased was recently engaged to the daughter of the late General Sir Charles Parsons, but last Friday , Lady Parsons told him the engagement most be broken off. In a letter in the Coroner's possession, Miss Parsons wrote that she did not love the deceased. A BROKEN HEART. Stores szaixci.) (Received July 12th, 7.35 p.m.) LONDON, July 11. The father of the deceased saids — "My boy's heart was broken. That was the end." He said the deceased was his only remaining son, the others having been killed during tho war. When Miss Parsons broke off the engagement, the deceased was In despair. Witness made a final effort to see her en Monday, hut without result. In roply to a question, the father said his son drove to Byneefc when ho committed suicide, probably because, as a member of the New Zealand Golf Club there, he knew the road well. The Cozener, in recording his verdict, said the agony of the broken engagement had unhinged the deceased's mind, ■»■ ji i - ' —*——
