HOCKEY.

N.Z. ASSOCIATION. The Management Committee of tie New Zealand Hockey Association met last evening. Present—Messrs H. S. J. Goodman (chairman), B. Gracie, H. Throp, C. Bellamy, M. H. Down and P. N. Quartermain, secretary. The Wellington and Canterbury Associations wrote fixing the date of the Zand Cup match for July 14th, and appointing Messrs E. Gracie and 0. Bellamy «a referees. The date and referees were approved. The Canterbury Association wrote agreeinj? to July 21st at the date for the Zanol Cup match against Auckland. The Association asked for a Tuling upon the rule rethe status of Zanol Cup players. Th« rule states: "That players must he recognised players and muflt not have played in three or more matches in any senior competition." Jt was decided that the rule was olear and must be complied with by all assooiationi. The Hanawatu Association forwarded the result of the Manawatu v. Hawke's Bay shield match, which was won by the former, and stated that the second shield match had been fixed for July 18th. Messrs Hogg and Cousins were approved of as referees for the match. The Otago Association wrote intimating that the South Island tourney would be held on September Bfh, at Dunedin. The Auckland Association wrote accepting the control of the North Island tourney, and suggested the .first week, in September as a suitable date. Auckland also forwarded an explanation regarding an entry for the Nordon Cup by the Opotiii Sub-Associa-tion. The Poverty Bay Association forwarded the jeault of the Nordon Cup match against Wairarapa, which was won by_ the former team, and also forwarding remits regarding proposals for alteration of the constitution. Twenty-three nominations were received of players for inclusion in the New Zealand team from the Auckland, Manawatuk Buller, Nelson, Otago, Toranaki and Wellington Associations. Mr W. Rothwell, of the Australian team, sent a personal letter conveying a tentative programme of matches for the tour, and stated that the first match would probably be played at Sydney on August Ist., Mr L. H. Norton was appointed manager for the tour, with power to make the final selection of the team in Australia. The Marlborough Association was granted re-affiliation, and Mr v H.. Warburton was elected to represent that Association on the New Zealand Hockey Association. Mr L. H. Norton wrote stating that the •- cup presented by him for* primary schools competition in the North Island was Teady. The letter was received, and Messrs Down and Bellamy were appointed to draft rules to govern the competition. MALVERN ASSOCIATION. The Executive Committee of the Malvern Ladies' Hockey Sub-Association met at Darfield on Tuesday. Mr Townshend presided. Representatives were present from Darfield, Kimberley, Sheffield and Greendale. The necessary arrangements were made in connexion with the forthcoming- visit of teams from Christchurch, which takes place on Saturday, August 16th. It' was decided that admission to these matches should ba Is for adults. It was agreed'to hold the six-aside tournament at Darfield on August 4th, to be confined to clubs affiliated with the Malvern Association, the same rules to be observed as those which governed the tournament of 'ast year. Each district will appoint its own marshal. Mr J. Gillanders, of Greendale, was appointed timekeeper for the tournament. Entries must reach the secretary, Mrs Cullen, Greendale, not later than August 4th. Messrs J. Gillanders,, W. A. Wilson and the secretary were appointed a committee to conduct the draw. It v/aa unanimously agreed that a Malvern representative team should visit South Canterbury, provided arrangements could be made for matches. The secretary was instructed to obtain the necessary information. It was agreed to pay one half of the team'* expenses. Messrs Townshend, W. Pole and, W. A. Wilson were appointed a selection committee. The seventh round of the competition was played on Saturday. The results were as follows, the games being played on the grounds of the first-mentiened teams:—The Greendale v. Darfield B match was unavoidably postponed.on account of influenza being rife among players of the latter team; Darfield A 1 v.-'Sheffield A 1, referee, Mr W. Pole; Sheffield B 1 v. Kimberley 1, referee, Mr W. Sturgies. The following shows the position .of teams to date:
