Dr. Hicks who is mentioned in the cable message as having been awarded a Beit Research Fellowship in Medicine, is the first New Zealander to secure this honour. He is the eldest eon of the late Mr G. H. Hicks, of Dunedin, who >was at one time a member of the literary staff of the "Otago Daily Times."
