Attempts are being made to flood the fire area in the Broken Hill mine through an old shaft. ~* It is stated that the fire could not have broken out in a worse part of the mine, as it is heavily timbered and the timber is very dry. One mining expert considers that the fire may not be extinguished for weeks or months.
