Bert Frederick Calvert, to recover £t</,OiW as damages for an alleged conspiracy between the defendant and a man named' Maurice Sternbach. In the alternative the plaintiff claimed damages lor fraudulent misrepresentation laade by Htornbach as the alleged agent of the defendant. The defendant <feaicd the allegations and denied , liability. 1h« Grand Duchess arrived in England hi 1921. According to her counsel, Sternbach introduced her to Sir Albert Calvert as an eminent finance, and a scheme was arranged to JSTest the proceeds of her jewels in a iwicern known as the Exploration ncaaoe Syndicate to purchase the „ rights of a patent photographic pro- . &**, from which the return of ftibulous riches *as promised.
