James Leyden, on a charge of having* stolen a motor-cycle valued, at £ls, the property of James Bascoe, was remanded to appear again on Wednesday nest. CIVIL BUSHTESS. Judgment waa given for the plaintiff by default in each of the following cases:— French Bros., Ltd. v. A. Eastwood, £l6 6s; Spring!! County Council v. John William Barker, £lO lie 9d; Cyril Hill v. Hector JaTden, £22 8s Gd; Booth, Macdonald and Co., Ltd., v. J. Scott, £ll 7s; same v. J. O'Brien, £2 As; F. D. Kesteven v. B. West, £36: E. Beese, Ltd. v. 0. R. Butterfie'.d, £5 11b Id; same v. D. M. Stitt, £9 lie, Gd. Caleb Griffiths was ordered to pay. Frederick Freeman £l4 17s at the rate of 10a pur month, or in default, fourteen days' imprisonment. H. Collins was sentenced to seven daysr imprisonment in the event of his failing to pay Mrs Bella Wyatt the sum of £8 18s 6d at the rate of -5e per week. AGREEMENT OF EXCHANGE. Florence McCarthy (Mr C. 8. Thomas) claimed: from A. E. Perry (Mr P. P. J. Amodeo) the sum of £SO, alleged to be duo under an agreement of exchange. The plaintiff, a porter in the Kailway Hotel, who also does taxi cab work at night, stated that owing to his car not starting very well he agreed to exchange it for the defendant's car, at the same time paying tho defendant £SO. The plaintiff took defendant's oar, of which a trial was to be given, but found it unsatisfactory so far as starting was ooncerned. Consequently he returned it and got his own back, but the defendant perused to return the £SO. _ After hearing the evidence, the Magistrate gave judgment for the plaintiff for the amount claimed, with coate. DAKFIELD. (Before Messrs McMillan and Blank, J.P.'s.) In Jackson v. Otten, claim £2 16s 6d, judgment was given for plaintiff by default, with costs. . . Owing to the visiting Magistrate being indisposed, several cases were held over tm next Court day. ATTEMPTED THEFT. (PBEB9 ASSOCIATION TELEORiU \ AUCKLAND, July 12.
