Our entry comprised about 4G head of which some were., of classical quality and others very ordinary. VEAL CALVES. This department oornprises one of the bright spots in the trad©. Veal was m ebort supply, only 100 calves of all sorta coming forward. We quoto the following lunge of prices:— Runners made up to £5 12s 6d. Best voalers, from £3 10s to £4 103. Medium vcalers from £2 10s to £3 sb. Light »nd harder sorts from £1 to £1 15s. FAT SHEEP. There was a much, smaller entry than has been the case for the last few weeks. The yarding again oomprised mostly ewes, although there wis a bigger proportion of wethers than ueual. liters were several lines of excellent quality. The market opened considerably firmer than lest weeJ:, showing an advance oi 8s to 4s on heavy ewes, and from 2i to 3s 6cl oil medium ewes, wethers .averaging an advance of from 2g to Bs. However, towards the end of t<ho *«]e the demand slackened somewhat, but even eo, the market throughout waa oonsidrably firmer "than last* week's. Prime woUiara sold 'from 88s to 40b, extra up to 45s 6d, medium from 23s to 375, others down to 2!>s. Prime ewes from 32a to 365, extra up to 39s 9d, medium from 27s to 31s 6d, others down to 19s 6d. 1 FAT LAMBS. There was a very small yarding of fat iambs, and these were practically all bought for iooal consumption. The eale aspeciiwly for any good quality was about, equal to last week's. One exceptionally good line of West Coast lambs, which we understand were the first sheep that have been consigned to Addingtou through the Tunnel, aoid very well, and arrived in excellent condition, showing the advantage of railing stock direct instead of trailing them over the hill from Otira to Arthur's Pass. STORE sheep: Tlie yarding was smaller than that of last week. The entry mostly comprised hoggets and wethers, for which values were slightly easier than last week. There was a good demand for all sound mouth ewes. W® quoto best sound mouth ewea up to 87a Gd, best forward halfbred wethers up to 30s, best crossbred wethers up to 29s 9d, others from 25s to 275, best wether hoggets up to 235, few extra good up to 255, befit ewe hoggets up to 29s 6d, others from 22s Cd to 26e. BACON PIGS. The ®try was smaller and prices somewhat better than at recent sales. Pork was in over supply and prices eased. We quoto—- : Light baconws from £3 15s to £4. ss. Heavy baconers from £4 10s to £5 ss. Average, price per lb 7d to 7jd. Light porkers from £2 5s to £2 12s 6d. tteavy porkera from £2 16s to £3 ss. Average price'per lb 8d to 9Jd. • STORE PIGS.
