FORESTRY LEAGUE.

ANNUAL MEETING. The second annuaJ meeting of the Canterbury branch of the New Zealand, Forestry League was held last evening, Mr Jas. Deans presiding. The annual report and balance-sheet, which have previously been puuTished, were taken an readi, and adopted. The chairman, in moving the adoption of the report, said that the amount sent forward to Wellington might seem large, but they had to remember that the amount forwarded included payment for the forestry magazine. The magazine had changed hands, and in future would be supplied at a smaller charge. He aaked members to forward any suitable article on forestry that thev might see in newspapers or other publications, for inclusion in the magazine. Mr D. Bates, in seconding the motion, suggested that the League-should offer a prize for Woodwork made by school children out of New Zealand woods, and exhibited at the Show. He also suggested that they might hold a forestry field day in order to interest membefs and others in the work of the League. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. The suggestions made by Mr Bates were referred to the incoming committee. The election of offioers resulted as follows: —President, Mr Jas. DeansK vice-chairman, Dr. H. T. D. Acland; hon. auditor, Mr J. A. B. Cookson; secretary, Mr C. J. Treleaven; oommittee, Messrs J. Young. H. J. Beswick, W. A. Banks, W. W. MulTiolland, J. A. Northcpte, W. H. Wihsor, J.
