HIKURANGI STRIKE.
MINERS HEAVILY FINED. (P2IS9 ASSOCIATION WHA'NIGAKSI, July 10. Contingent on tho recent striko at tho Hikurangi coal minos, the Inspector of Awards, Joseph Hollows, of Auckland, took proceedings at tho Magistrate's Court against the Hikurangi Coal Miners' Union to recover £2OO as a penalty for a breach of the Arbitration Act, on th© grounds of abetting unlawful strikes ana aiding the continuance thereof; also against twelve employees of Foots and Uoel's mine, where the d.spute originated, including the president of the Union, as parties to an unlawful stnk9. After hearing lengthy evidence, th© Magistrate, Mr Hewitt, imposed; tho maximum tine of £2OO on the Union and £lO each on the defendant miners.
