A portion of Dyer's Pass road, on the town side of" Victoria Park, has been impassable for cars owing to what appears to have been somewhat injudicious road-mend ng. Mi H. G. Eil states that prior to the there was a good clay surface on th<piece of road referred to; there vas ;i • smaii hole which could have been filled up with a few stones. Instead of tlu.~ being done, soft clay, and black ea;tl. were spread on the surface of the road with the result that when rain camt this piece of road became like a bog and could not be negotiated by cars. On Saturday Mr Ell and a man he employed shifted some of the mud ai.d* dug a water-table. On Sunday xn.- ruing Mr J. S. Hawkes, Mr F. J. L. Scott, and Mr Ell got to wok on the roai and cleared otf the mud, getting down i to the clay surface and making the road ! fit for motor traffic and leav.ng a dry 1 portion for foot passengers.
