Lowry (formerly of Christ's College) will be gratified, though perhaps not altogether surprised, to hear that his prowess as a cricketer hast been recognised by Cambridge University, which has awarded him his Blue for his skill in the game. Everyone here interested recognises that the honour , was thoroughly deserved, for Mr Lowry showed capital form before he won't out' with Mr Maclaren's team, and, this form is still very much in evidence at the present time, for he has the best average among the amateurs. The other day he made a'century—l6l against Lancashire. Commenting on .his play one of the cricketing writers remarks: "Lowry's experience with A. C. Maclaren's team hive undoubtedly done him a considerable amount of good. He was always a hard hitter, but his defence had considerably improved—he. appears to be watching the ball better than he did last season. He is of New Zealand birth, and out there represented Clirisfg College at all kinds of games. It is interesting to note that Lowry had a good grounding from Jack Board, the old Gloucestershire wicketkeeper, who had charge of him in his younger days."
