SUMNER VOLUNTEER FIRE BRIGADE.
THIRTY-FIRST ANNUAL SOCIAL.
Last evening in the Sumner Town Hall the Sumner Volunteer Fire Brigade held their annual social. The decorations were carried out in the Brigade's colours, red and blue. The members of the Brigade were responsible for all the arrangements, and are to be complimented on the success of their enterprise. During the evening the Mayor, Mr W. H. Nicholson, presented long-service honours to the following: — Foreman J. Williams, silver bar (making total of 21 years' active service); Branchman George Hine, silver bar (13 years' service); isranciiman E. O'Neill, silver bar (13 years' service): and Bianehman J. O'Neill, silver bar (9 years). Amongst other brigades represented were:—Captain Hean (Addington Railway), Christchurch City Brigade, Christchurch Railway, New Brighton, Kaiapoi, and Rangiora. Amongst those present were: The Mayor and Mayoress and Councillors, Mesdames Parsons, E. O'Neill, J. O'Neill, Fleurty, J. Merritt, George Hines, W. Carter, Walter Carter, Serra, Misses Greer, Fleurty, Cairns, Sexton, Hines (2), M. Carter, D. Fleurty, Q. Jackscn, Mrs Herbert Carter, Mrs J. Carter, Miss Cousins, Mrs Summerton, Mrs Nelson, Mrs Gee, Miss Hilda Parrish. Mrs Percy Griffiths, Mrs Leslie Griffiths, Mrs Pearce, Mrs Chapman, Mrs Chitty, Mrs Allen, Miss Kennedy, Miss Wright, Miss Morgan, Messrs J. O'Neill, E. O'Neill, Superintendent J. Carter, W. Carter, H. Carter, Walter Carter, J. Parsons, J. Merrit, James Merritt, W. and E. Merritt, L. Allen, S. Middleton, G. and. A. Hines, Miss Gladys Short, Mrs Maffey, Mrs Blakeley, Messrs T.
