SHEEPOWNERS' FEDERATION.
ANNUAL MEETING. (PBESB ASSOCIATION TBLEOBAM.) WELLINGTON, July o. At the annual meeting of the New Zealand Sheepowners' and Farmers' Federation the report applauded the operations of the Meat Control Board, which had undoubtedly been in the best interests of sheepowners. Tho difficulties in the way of establishing an agricultural bank . were referred to, «md while sympathising with the movement, the report stated that thero eould be no short cut to success. The president, Mr H. D. Acland, referred to the injustice inflicted on farmers by the present system of taxation, which consituted an annual levy, on capital. ~ Mr Acland! was re-elected president.. A sub-committee- reported on an amendment to the Stock Act drafted as the result of a conference in Christolmrch. and the Department was urged to pass it through promptly. It was also decided to draw tho Meat Board's attention to improvements suggested 1 in handling meat, winch, it was alleged, suffered severe damage under the present methods.
