PILLAR OF LIGHT.
ETERNAL MEMORIAL TO DEAD. LONDON, June 18. A leading article in "The Times" states that the recent proposal that a light, shining upwards, which would never be extinguished, should be added to the cenotaph, captures the imagination. The conception of perpetual light, "through dusk and darkness, bearing a message or enduring memory toward the skies," would accord nobly with the cenotaph's stark dignity, and would fittingly complete the symbolism of that auguss memorial. The article adds that the decision must rert with the kith and kin of the glorious dead, both in Britain and in the Dominions. It has no doubt that their approval would be given.
