SEWERAGE POLL
MEETING AT BECKENHAM. At the Beckenham School last night, Mr W. Hill, chairman of the Christchurch Drainage Board, and several other members of the Board, explained to a poorly attended meeting the Board's proposals to install a sewerage sypstem in the outer • area, of which Beckenham is a part. The proposals aro to raise a loan of £700,000 to construct 125 miles of sewers in the present undrained outer area, the public to approve or disapprove of the proposal at a poll to be taken on the matter on July 12th. Mr A. C. Maxwell presided. Messrs W. Hill, H. Holland, H. J. Otley, and F. Burgoyne outlined the proposed scheme on lines similar to those employed at the meetings at Riecarton and St. Albans. At the conclusion of the meeting votes of thanks were passed to the speakers, and those present decided to express their confidence in the scheme.
