The an- j ticipatiou was correct, for as the car j came into sight the man; whel is aj powerful runner, and "who had takeii J a. short cut across country, made a -j dash out of the house. On thisoccas- j ion, however, the police were too* many \ for him, and he was taken into custody j about 300 yards from the house i.
He is to be brought the Court, this morning ia respect of charges of breaking and entering a' store at Springston, the store of L. M. Davies, Papanui road, and the Paramount Tailoring Company, Maiitihester street. It is understood that lie will also be charged with having committed an assault on a young woraan at Burwood.
