HOCKEY.
CANTERBURY ASSOCIATION. The Canterbury Hockey Association imet last evening. Present—Messrs S.' 6. Holland (chairman), E. Cuming, C. Franklin, K. AVarburton, R. P. Granger, H. Rogers, H. Bell C. Bishop," K. Balchin, E. W. Smith, V. flahn, B. Morris, A. Rattray, A. Haaell, and L. L. Smith (secretary). Apologies were received from Messrs F. Crawfoid and S. Mander. A notice of motion to pro ride for the alteration of rule 73, making the enforcement of the rule optional upon tho committoo, was carried by a large majority. The Auckland Association wrote asking that the match for the Zanol Chip between Canterbury and Auckland be played on July 21st. It was decided to ogree to the request, provided! that Canterbury won the match against Wellington on July 7th. Tho referee in a junior match reported having ordered off a player for disputing the decisions of the referee. Tho matter, was referred to the Judiciary Committee. The Refoees' Association wrote nominating tho following referees for the representative fixtures: —Senior match against South Canterbury Messrs C. Bellamy and S. G. Holland; junior Zanol Cup match, July 14th, Messrs C. Bellamy and M. Bugg. The nominations were approved. The New Zealand Association wrote forwarding particulars of the proposed! Australian tour. Tho senior selector wrote regTetting that he had been unable to secure the names of any players available for inclusion in the team for Australia. It was decided to ask the selector to make an effort to secure at least two players to make the trip. The New Zealand Association also aeked for nominations fox players for the interInland match, which is to be played at Wellington on August 18th. Tho Wellington Association wrote asking that the Challenge Shield match Wellington v. Canterbury be played at Wellington on August 4th. The matter was deferred until after the third Shield match, in which Canterbury are tho challengers. The Soutli Canterbury Association wrote asking for a postponement of their match until late in July. It was decided! to suggest July 21st or 28th, subject to the date of the Shield match. Permission was granted to the Wealey Club to play for the Plilpott Cup in Wellington in August. The Grounds Committee reported that the Sydenham grounds were unplayable and it was decided to discontinue using them for the remainder of the season. It was decided! to continue all competition matches next Saturday.
