IRISH ENVOYS IN AUSTRALIA.
DEPORTATION ARRANGEMENTS. (sr CABLE—FHK93 ASSC'OimOH—COmiOHT.) (AUSTBALUK AND M.Z. CABLE ABSOCIATIO2I.) • MELBOUBNE, July 3. It is stated that Senator Pearce, Mihiater for Homo Affairs, and the Hon. L. E. Groom, Attorney-General, are conferring on the conditions whereby the Irish envoys are to leave the country on their own account. SYDNEY, July 3. The Commonwealth Attorney-General (Hon. L. E. Groom) denies that the masters of the Ventura or the Aki Maru were approached with a view to the deportation of the envoys. The suggestion was not only incorrect, but fantastic in the extreme.
[A previous message said:—lt is reported that the masters of the Ventura and the Aki Maru refused to take on board the Irish envoys, Father 0 'Flanagan and Mr J. J. o'Kelly, who are under deportation orders. The Commonwealth Government has now offered the envoys an opportunity to leave Australia on terms which are regarded - as acceptable to both parties. It is expected that the offer will be accepted.]
