THE NEW ZEALAND LIST. P-BSSS ASSOCIATION TELEGEAM.) AUCKLAND, June I. The Governor-General announces that his Majesty the Bag has been graciously pleased on the occasion ot his birthday to confer the following honours in recognition of distinguished services :

Knight Com. of tJie Most Ex. Order of the 8.E.-K.8.8. Robert Howard -Nolan, C.8.E., honorary secretary and oincer in charge of*the New Zealatd Soldiers Club hi London, from the date of its inception early in the war until its close some time after hostilities ceased. This club, which was admirably conducted, was ot incalculable value to New Zealand troops on leave. Mr Robert Nolan was formerly associated with agricultural development and progress in Taranaki province. He was created a Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 1918. Knight Bachelor. —K.B. The Honourable Frederick Revans •Chapman. He was appointed Judge of the New Zealand (Supreme Court in 1903; was President of the Court of Arbitration, IUOd--1907; Compiler of New Zealand Statutes, 1921. Companion of the Most Hon. Order of the Bath.—O.B. (Mil. Div.). Commodore Alan Geoffrey Hotham, UM.6., Naval Aide-de-Canip to the King, in recognition of wa.uable services rendered in organising recruiting, and training r<x the Zealand division of the Royal Naw, and as Naval Adiviser to the New Zealand Government.

Companion of the Most Difl. Order of St. M. and G.—O.M.G. James William Tibbs, Mi, oi» of the Dominion's leading educationists. He recently retired from the position of headmaster of the Auckland Grammar School, which he had occupied for many years with conspicuous success. Thomas Edward Bonne, secretary ot the New Zealand High Commissioner's Office, London. He joined the New Zealand Public Serice in 1875, became Superintendent of the Department of. Tourist and Health Resorts, 1901; entered the High Commissioner's Office, London, 1909.

0.8. E. Frederick William Flanagan, permanent head of the Valuation Department. He has been a member of the New Zealand Publio Service for more than half a' century.

(bpioial to "the PBIBS."). AUCKLAND, June 1. Mr J. W. Tibbs, who was born in Hobart, graduated Bachelor of Arts at KeTTte College, Oxford, in 1879, and Master of Arts in 1883. From to 1881 he was mathematical master at St. Edward's School, Oxford, and for the ensuing four years he was second master at the High School, Hobart. He came to Auckland in 1885 as mathematical master at the Auckland Grammar School —or college, as it was then known —and in 1893 was appointed headmaster of the school, in succession to the late Mr 0. F. Bourne, the latter being for some time headmaster of ■ohrist's College, Ohristchurch. Mr Tibbs retired last year, after notable service to the Auckland Grammar School, and bis resignation carried with it a sense of loss to many generations of ex-pupils of the school, to all parents who had pupils under his care, and to the public of Auckland generally. Mr Tibbs is generally recognised thvoughoct the Dominion as one of the finest headmasters New Zealand has yet had, . Sir Eobert Nolan is an Australian by birth, having been born at BathuTst in 1855. He came to New Zealand as a young boy with his parents, his father being the late'Mr David Nolan, of the late firm of Hunter and Nolan, auctioneers, of Auckland. Sir Eobert was in business for many years :tt Hawera as senior partner in the firm of Messrs Nolan and Tonks. He went to England on a visit early in 3014, shortly before the outbreak of war. Be remained in England throughout the duration of the war, and was honorary secretary and officer in charge of the New Zealand Soldiers' Olub in London from the date' of its inception until it was closed in 1919. He rendered excellent service to members of the Dominion's Expeditionary FoTce. Sir Eobert also was a member of the committee of the New Zealand War Contingent Association in London. He was created a Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 1918. He returned to New Zealand in 1920, and has since resided in Auckland.
