WATERSIDE WORKERS' OVERTIME.
ALLEGED BREACH OF AWARD. (PI-.ESS ASSOCIATION TELEdRAM.) WELLINGTON, May 23. Sixty-four waterside workers are to answer, summonses on charges of a breach of the Arbitration Court award by refusing to work overtime on the steamer Mararoa. It will be remembered that on one occasion recently the Mararoa was late. It is aliegod that the men were asked to work overtime in order to get the boat away; that they refused to do so; and that a ballot was taken as to whether they should work overtime as requested. It is stated that the alleged offence is that the men took concerted action to defeat the award in taking a ballot on the matter.
It is understood that the case will be defended bv the union.
