CANTERBURY ROWING ASSOCIATION. 1 The executive o: the Canterbury Eowing Association met last, ni;ht. Present.—Messrs j F. D. Kefltevea (president), R. E. Nightiu- , U. Ebert, A. li. Wood, 11. J. The .tfUtr was held over for further consideration. Tito New Zealand Rowing Association stated that the championship eoats would be posted from Wellington about thp middle of the week. The delay had been caused by the difficulty in getting thu material, which 1 ) had to be specially made. Tho secretary of tho New Zealand Association congratulated the members of tlie Canterbury Interprovincial Four on their performance in winning tho race two years in succession. The effort 3 of the Canterbury Association in furthering the race and sending representatives to Wellington were fully appreciated, and it was hoped that it would not be long before similar support was forthcoming from other local Associations in New Zealand. The Akaroa. Regatta Club wrote stating that a special meeting of tlie executive had bean held to discuss the matter of payment of £l6 won by tho Avon Rowing Club at the Akaroa Regatta on December 16th, with tho result that the following resolution had b»fn carried:—"ln view of the fact that 3£irton was born in New Zealand, Wanga- )/. i. and the procuring of. his birth certificate is an easy matter, the Akaroa Regatta. Club have decided to withhold the prize money until such birth certificate is procured." The secretary added that foe was instructed to forward the cheque for £l3 on reoeipt of Kirton'a certificate, and { he trusted there would be no further de'la.y in procuring it.

Mr Kcsteven said that the Avon Club had nothing to do with' the matter now. The Akaroa. Club was r.ot conforming with the rules of the Association.

Mr Wood said the Akaroa body was refusing to abide by the Association's decision. Some move ought to be made by the Association. Ho moved that the club be suspended until such time as it handed the money over to th« Centre.

Mr D-uggan said that surely the Akaroa Club could have no grievance, as it had allowed the Avon crew to compete in the rnoe. It had secured declarations from other clubs. He moved ns an amendment that the Akaroa Club should be, suspended for twelve months if the money waa not paid over within fourteen days. Mr Ebert seconded the amendment. After further discussion the amendment was carried, dive members voting for and two against.

It was stated that no letter had yet been received in reply to the president's letter. In the letter to the club, it was decided to stress the facts that it had allowed the Avon dub to start in the race, and that it had accepted declarations from other clubs.
