LANCASTER PARK WICKET. ALLEGATIONS OF WATERING. (SPECIAL, TO "THE P8E83.") WELLINGTON, April 18. By to-night's terry steamer, Air D. Collins', captain of tho Wellington cricke? team that visited Chrisbhurch during last season, rnd Mr J. S. lliddleston, a member of the Mime team, go south to attend an enquiry into the alleged watering of tho pitch at Lancaster Park during tho WelhugtoiiCanterburv match. The enoutrv is being, held at tho request of the Wellington Association and the New Zealand Cricket Council invited Mr Collins and one other representative of ths "Wellington Association to attend. Mr Collins, it will be remembered, thougnt the wicket had beet: watered, and from all accounts it seemed to have been, but the Lancaster Park Board of Control came to the conclusion that the supposed watering amounted to nothing more than a heavy dew.
