CRECHE-KINDERGARTEN ASSOCIATION.
The annual meeting of the Ohristchurch Creche Kindergarten Association was held yesterday afternoon, Miss L. V. Tabart presiding over a good attendance in the absence of the President, Mrs F. A. Peppier. A communication was read from the President, in which she stated that the schools were now' fully staffed. She suggested that an annual medical examination should be made of the pupils attending the various kindergartens, and stated that £2OO was available to be spent on a kindergarten playground at the corner of Queen and "Worcester streets. The annual report and, 'balance-sheet showed that the Association had been in existence for eleven and a half years and the work of the body during that period had beem exceedingly satisfactory. On acounl? of lack of funds, strict economy had to, be exercised during the oast vear, but the result or street appeals bad materially benefitted the' Association's.finances. The attendances at the kindergartens throughout the year had been satisfactory, and there continued to be a gratifying atmosphere of confidence and co-opera-tion between the Association, its teachers, and the parents, but it was regretted that, until further • funds were available, the Association would have to confine itself to the instruction of children under five years Many and varied gifts had been received throughout the year, affd the thanks of the Association were due to the donors. The year had closed with a sma-M credit balance, due mainly to the untiring efforts on the part of the local committees, and the generous heln from parents. The attendances at the different institutions for the year ending December 31st, 1922, were as follows: Aver. Roll Aver. Attend. Kindergarten— Sunbeam * 51 37.1 Thillirstown 75 56 Sydenham ' 53 41 Little Citizens 37.2 24 Selwyn SO 38 Richmond 48 36 The income and expenditure account showed an expenditure of £2139 16s Id, and an income of £1931 14s lOd. The excess of expenditure over income was £2OB Is 3d. The total assets of the Association were £2224 7s 2d.
