A noticeable feature about the present building boom is the number of residences which are being erected in stone (says the Oamaru "Mail"). At the present time tlmre are upwards of a dozen stone houses in course of construction in the borough. Besides these there are seven business premises being erected in Thames street in stone. This has given <juite «. fillip to the stonequarrying industry, and, incidentally, 11 tains the money for the building mat-'-rial in the district. The limestone deposits in the district nre enormous, and as the quarryng gives a good deal of employment, the building in stone, besides utilising a vary valuable asset, helps to promote what ought to be quite an important industry.
