A deputation, consisting of the Mayor of Duuedin (Mr J. S. Douglas) and other members of the Exhibitions Committee', waited on the Prime Minister at Palmerston last ni»ht, and asked for some official recognition of the exhibition, to be held at Dunedin in 1925-23 (says a Press Association message from Duuedin). Mr Douglas said that he would like to be able to announce to the committee that Mr Massey, as head of the Government, had given them some assurance that if Dun«din rose to the occasion it would be supported in a, worthy manner by the Government. Mr Massey said that he did not intend to throw cold water on the proposal, but mentioned that they were committed to support the Imperial Exhibition and were committed to an expenditure of £60,000. He concluded: "Please don t ask me for any monev just now Moral support—that's easy, 'and you won t have any fault to find with the Uovernment pn that score."
