YACHTING AT REDCLIFFS.
'-- BEANLAND CUP. Tlu final race of the C Class for the Beanland Cup was held by the Christchurch Sailing and Power Boat Club on Saturday. Tho course, w-as from the Sea Scout to the Heathcote buoy, and return. The wind was light and patchy from the north-east. At the iitf.lt- M-aoirii took- tha lead, closely followed fcy Sop, Msw and Sea Pup.. On tho beat to windward Sea Mew overhauled the leadersand held the position till Newberry's was reached. Here she struck a calm patch, which, enabled Sea Pup to catch-up. The remainder of the race was keenly fought between the two sister boats, and a. eloso finish lVs-ulted, but on the time allowance the S<ut Pu.p was declared the winner. The cup for most points during the se-asou was won by A. Round's Sea Mew. Results: Sea Pui> (30sec), C. Monck, 1; Sea. Mew (tcr). A. Round, 2; Xaomi (30sec), T. Morrison, 3. Also started: Eureka. Spray, Marguerite, Breeze. The race for the Cummins Memorial Cup for A Clas3 yachts wis productive of keen competition, as three boats were running close in points. At the start Warau was lucky in picking up a free puff, and drew well away, leaving the others bunched together. Making- a blanketing match at the Heathcote buoy, Vvarau was first about, closely followed by Te Arai and _ Re3olute. Warau, which always does well in a light wind, gradually drew away from the others, and was never again headed. After the handicaps were worked out Warau was declared the winner.
