As one authority on cars has definitely stated, 50 per cent, of the adjustments necessary to the ordinary "poppet-valve" engine during its first two years of ' operation have to do with the valves and their mechanism. In the Willys-Knight these valves are eliminated by the substitution of sliding sleeves which require no adjustment. An Unexcelled Economy. Axle Timken Bearing. The "Willys-Knight" Engine is truly, economical. Firstly, it is 20 per cent, more powerful than any poppet-valve engine of the game size. It is economical in oil consumption, due to the very ingenious arrangement exclusive to the "Willys-Knight," which varies the amount of oil fed to the engine in direct proportion to the throttle opening. As the speed and power of the engine increases the oil pressure and supply increases. ; When these are decreased the oil supply decreases in proportion. Secondly, the "WillysKnight" is economical because of Many cars use no Timken bearings in the front axle, but depend sololy upon bronze or steel bushings, which wear quickly, cannot be adjusted, and cause hard steering. ' A few cars use one roller bearing in each stub axle, but, as far as we know, the "WillysKnight" is the only American Car equipped with a front axle that is 100 per cent, adjustable. .
