QUEEN ALEXANDRA.

All tho papors give prominence to the Diamond Jubilee to-day of Queen Alexandra's arrival in England. [Queen Alexandra was bora 1 on December Ist, 1844, at Copenhagen, the daughter of Christian IX. of Denmark, and is therefore in her 79th' year. Her formal betrothal to. the late King Edward VII., then Prince of "Wales, took place on September 9th, 1862, but it was not until tho eve of his coming of age that the engagement was formally announced. The alliance gave great satisfaction in England and Denmark, and the delight of the Danish people found expression in a gift of 100,000 crowns, known as the "People's Dowry." By the expreßß wish of Princess Alexandra, 3000 thnlerß were'distributed among six Danish brides of humble station during the first year of her marriage. From the day Bhe left' Copenhagen until she landed, on British soil, her journey was a triumphal progress. She received a wonderful welcome in London, and the wedding- took place wifh great splendour oiiiMarcK 10th, 1863.'in St. George's ,;,'Ohapel, Windsor, it being the first Royal marriage celebrated there since that of Henry I. in 1122.]
