Germany is alarmed at the birthrate, which has fallen from 29 per 1000 in 1913, to 25.6 per 1000 last year. The death rate for the same period has increased from 16.8 to 18.6 per 1000. Berlin's population in 1922 had declined by 4000 since the war.
