GLENTUNNEL SCHOOL. The Glentunnel School Pionio »m held at the Hawkins bridge, Waddington. About 100 children and adults made the journey in Ma C. Stuart's motor trucks, and up till midday an enjoyable time was spent. A trip was made to the Waimakariri Gorge bridge during the morning. Bananaß, apples, and sweets were distributed to the children, and a. good sports programme was run OfE. Besides a liberal quantity of suitable prizes, soft drinks and fruit were distributed, also a large number of toys for the little ones. The o-rrang-ements reflected great Ciedit on the committee. ISLINGTON FREEZING WORKS. The annual picnio of the Islington, Freezing Works employees and their friends was held on Saturday at the Amberley Domain. In spite of the threatening state of the weather there was a good attendance, and the day passed very happily for all concerned. The sports programmes were both well contested, and there was a great keenness on the part of the children. For these last there was a eupply of toys and sweets, which helped to add to the charm of a day in the country. After the sports programme had been concluded, Sir Francis Boys called for three cheers for the committee, and for all who had been in any way instrumental in making the picnio a success. Cheers were given for Sir Francis and Lady Boys, after which Lady Boya presented the prize. Following is a list of winners: 75yds Handicap—B. McGregor 1, E. Taylor 2, H. Wilson 3. 100 yds Handicap—W.
