THE MOTOR MISHAP. (BFZCIAL 10 "THE FU93.") GREYMOUTH, March 7. Regarding the victims of yesterday's motoring accident near Aickens, Mr and Mrs Fraser (Timnru) are both doing as well as can be expected. Mr Eraser's eye has greatly improved and the 6ight has returned. Mr Mann (Christchurch), is also making progress. Dredge Becommissioned. After a long spell, tho Harbour Board dredge Mawhera is to be put in commission on the recommendation of the harbourmaster (Captain F. AV. Cox) on the ground that tlie grah dredge cannot cope with the accumulation of silt at the berthage. I Boxing Association. Tho Grey Boxing Association last evening passed the following resolution unanimously:—"That in connexion with the dispute between the Otago Boxing Association and the New Zealand Boxing Council concerning the McQuarrie-McCleary contest, the Greymouth Boxing Association deplores the unsportmanlike attitude adopted by the Otago Boxing Association, which is detrimental to the befit interests of boxing in New Zealand, and tho Greymouth Association hereby affirms its confidence in the administration of boxing control as exercised by the present New Zealand Boxing Council." It was reported that the recent Nash benefit showed a net credit balance of £7O. _ ' Laurie Cadman (heavyweight Auckland) telegraphed asking for a contest with McQuarrie. The secretary said he had replied that the Association was not staging a professional bout at present. Tho secretary was instructed to endeavour to arrange a match for the Easter tournament, including a bout between L. O'Neill (Grey) and Parker (Christchurch). Orchestral Society. Tho Greymouth Orchestral Society has announced that Mr vf. T. Moss has resigned after 21 years brilliant work with the baton. When the announcement was made at last night's meeting of the Society, general regret was expressed. Members spoke in highly oulogistio terms of the invaluable help Mr Moss had given to the' Society, which owes practically -an its success to his devoted zeal. Mr Moss will be succeeded by his eon, Mr Clarence Moss. Mr Eric R. MoS3, another member of Greymouth's most musical family, has been appointed assistant conductor. Obituary, Constable Alfred Withers, of T>unollie, died at tho Grey River Hospital at '8.30 this morning, after a brief attack of pneumonia. He was born at Timaru 32 years ago. For some years ho was employed in the Manawatu district. He joined the police force in October, 1910, and was stationed in Wellington. Ho came to Greymouth in June, 1920, and remained until November of last year, when he was transferred to take charge of Dunollic station. He leaves a widow and a young family of four children. His father is believed to be in Foxton. The funeral takes place on Friday at Kororo. Personal. Miss J. Hambleton, of the commercial staff of the "Argus," was presented .with a gold wristlet watch 'oy the directors in appreciation of her services to the company.
