AMBASSADOR BOOTH'S MISSION. Ambassador Booth continued his mission in the Durham street Methodist Church last night, when he gave a sermon on "Thu Wile 3 of the Devil." The speaker said that lie assumed that all present believed in the existence of the devil. A minister of the Gospel, had told the speaker that he could not bring himself to believe. in the personality of the devil. The speaker did not see how a minister could continue his work if he did not have such a belief. Ho quoted passages from the Bible which, the speaker claimed, proved the existence of the "monstrous evil spirit." The speaker also took for granted that his hearers believed in the lines of demarcation between the Church and the world. Though the Bible mentioned the name of the devil more often than any* other, next to that of the Deity, too many'modern Christians had lost consciousness of his power, and hence they fooled with him as they did. As to the lines of demarcation, they all understood that, without them, society would be chaos. Lines of demarcation had been drawn between the moral and the immoral, and it ■as the Christian's duty to discover them. [e stressed the importance of self-mastery and warned his hearers against slavery to bad hnbits. Prior to the sermon the congregation joined in singing several hymns, and the announcement -vas made that the speaker would lecture to-night on "Lesson 3 on the Life of my Mother, Catherine Booth."

Barak, of Rolleston House, successfully upheld the honour of his house at the Kedcliffs rifle range on Saturday by winning both of the aggregate challenge cups, three trophy nips, and £3 in cash prizes.
