CASUALTIES.
(PBBSS ASSOCIATION TOLEGBAJC.) INVEBCABGILL, March 6. Arthur Borne Viekery died suddenly at Evansdale while at a picnic. He was a school teacher, 26 years of age, and was attending classes at Otago University. In the course of the evidence at the inquest Dr. Brennan said that a post mortem revealed a congested state of the various organs. The weakness could not have been determined by external examination. In his opinion the deceased died from heart failure, due to the weak condi- < tion of the heart muscles. The Ooroner returned a verdict in accordance with the medical testimony. [The late Mr Viekery was a eon of Mr and Mrs F. L. Viekery, Bowmont street, Inveroargill. When he returned from the war, Mr Viekery took up teaching and was .stationed at Redan Valley for some time. At the.beguiling of the year Jie ueiii> to Dunedm to go through a course at the Training College, leaving about two weeks ago to commence nis studies at the Otago University. He was wounded while on active service. He leaves a widow and one child.] Harold "Wilkins, a schoolboy, aged seven and a half years, who lives wit his people at 642 Hereford street, Linwood, was attacked by a dog about p.m. yesterday, in Fitzgerald 1 avenue while on his way home from school The lad had his lip bndly torn, and w;; admitted to the Hospital lor treat ment.
