DIVORCES IN ENGLAND.

Viscountess llhonnda has obtained a divorce from her husband, Sir Humph-' rey Mack worth, on the grounds of misconduct and desertion. The petition was not defended. [Lady Rhondda is a daughter of the first Viscount Rhondda, who as David Alfred Thomas, was member of the House of Commons for Merthyr Tydfil from 1888 till 1910. Lord Rhondda, who was a'wealthy coal-owner, will be best remembered by his arduous and successful worln as Food Controller 191718, his devotion to duty hastening his death. His daughter, who succeeded to the title by special remainder in 1918, also inherited ,her father's great estates and W a director of several large collieries and industrial undertakings, r.s well as of an insurance company. Her petition to bo allowed, to sit in the House of Lords \vaa refused by the. Committee on Privileges some months ago. Lady Foster Fraser was granted a divorce on the ground of her husband's failure - to comply with an order for the restitution of conjugal rights. Tho evidence disclosed that respondent admitted ' misconduct. [Sic John Foster Fraser, the well known journalist and traveller, was born in Edinburgh in 1868, the eldost son of the Rev.' John Fraser. He married in 1898, Helen Mary, daughter of Mr Francis Lawrence, of Seattle, Washington, U.S.A.] *
