CHRISTMAS MARKET.
What promises to bo one of the best Christmas Markets ever held in Christohurch, will bo opened on' Tuesday afternoon by the Hon. Sir R. Heaton Rhodes, the Mayor of the City presiding. The movement to build a Church of England Hospital has evoked considerable enthusiasm, and tho market 13 very largely a venture of those who, not having much money to give, wanted to do everything ~fh their power to help on the cause. An advertisement which appears in this issue, shows that tho wants of tho wholo community have boen. carefully considered aad evidently no oik* will hav/i the right to leave the Art Gallery next week discontented. A novelty connected with the men's Btall will bo the offering lor competition, of a threecoutso dinner all ready to be cooked, together with baking tins, meat-safe and all other accessories. Nor ore the Christchuroh folk alone in their efforts. Hororata's example has been followed, and there is to be a country stall. All four days of the Market should draw big crowds.
