TEMUKA-GERAIiDINE. A meeting of the Generil Committee of ♦he Temuka and Geraldini A. end P. Association wa» held on Tuesday. Present — Messrs J. A. Paterson (president), -G. W. Armitage, A. Shaw, L. J. Grant, Hy. Bell, A. Hutton, A. Bain, Geo. Ward, G. Fletcher, F. Charles, B. A. Dixon, A. G. Macdonald, H, M. Terrall, I#. A. Nicholas, J. C. Bisdee, J. BY Hayhurst, F. W. Tarbotton, J. Wordsworth, and the secretary, W. F. Evans. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs B. Macaulay, B. Maddren, M. Charles, and D. Paterson. Mrs Blathwayt, Winchester, wrote expressing thanks for the Association's letter of sympathy in her recent bereavement. The Mayfield A. and P. Association advised that the date of its show was March 2lth, 1923. Mrs A. Priddle wrote suggesting the provision of improved conveniences. The matter was referred to the Ground Committ e with instructions to obtain estimates and report at a future meeting. The secretary read a letter from the Winchester Domain Board agreeing to grant the Association a lease of show grounds for 14 years on eimilar conditions to those at present existing. On the motion of Messrs A. Shaw and F. Charles, the Finance Committee were authorised to- have the neoeasary lease pr pared. Mr A. Shaw, for the Ground Committee, suggested that ten new" cattle pens about 9ft x 7ft be provided. The committee had endeavoured to obtain estimates for this work and also for flooring the produce shed, but they were not yet available. Both matters were referred "back to the Ground Committee to Rub in it a report at next, meeting, including the providing of ladies' conveniences. ' ■ It was resolved, on the motion of Messrs L. J. Grant and A. Shaw, that n w challenge cups for sheep, cattle, .and draught ; horse sections l>e procured replace those i won outright. It was resolved, on the motion of Messrs E. A. Dixon and F. Charles that the conditions with respect to the ne'.v cups be altered to be won three. times in succession or. five times at intervals. An amendment' by Messrs" Ij. J. Grant and J; O. Bisdee, that the conditions be the same before, was lost. The secretary produced copies of rules and regulations of s various -kindred Associations throughout Canterbury and Olago. "'■ In sheep sections separate classes were provided for'half''and'troesbred freezers. . , In the draught horse sections, the. 10 cwt. spring cart clftss was deleted. In the light horse and pony sections, classes were included for 14.2 cobs, saddle »nd' harness, . and also a class for cob la hands' or under, harness. / In- the pig sections "the class for fat plgf. was reduced to' 1501b, and. all 12 months 1 classes were altered to read 14 inon'hs. In the fruit and vegetable sections the' number of apples, pears, p-aches. and quinces [in each-.exhibit' was red.uc.ed from. 6 to .5, . and : the ..two-pumpkin i class ; was changed' to.; table,"pumpkins!., The, collection of vegetables- class was limited to 13 varieties. \ ' ;. . ■ * . /'ln:.the sections a class was added' for best. collection of birds and- animals in crochet, the prizes 103, 6s, 4s, bfins given- - by. Mtb J?earce, of Winchester. The class for home-cured bacon was deleted. In the and root sections a olass was added for'six mangolds, Jersey Queen, and all maneoid,. swe3e, and turnip classes were increased from 4 to 6. On the motion of Messrs A. Shaw and L. J. Grant it was Tesolvcd that a .parade jof stock be arranged to take place on the show grounds about 2.30 p.m. . On tho' motion of and J. C. Bisdao -it waac resolved . that a do? trial be held .in connexion ehow, Messrs L.v A. Nicholas, .T. 0. . Bisdee, JWordsworth, I». .J* Grant, and J.. A..Paterson each promised a donation of £1 Is towards the dog trial prizes. A. E<iin. L. A. Nicholas, and J. C. Bisdee were apnointed a sub-committee to fix conditions-and to make all necessary arrangement for carrying out the tml.
