Christchurch North.
The Rev. X K. Archer, who is aware that his only chance of winning the ; Christchurch North scat is the chance i that a considerable number of Reformers will vote for Mr Andrews, has been endeavouring to suggest that the Reform Party has changed its mind about supporting Mr Isitt. The suggestion is false, and Mr Archer knows it. Mr Isitt is the candidate for whom all staunch and loyal Reformers should vote. He carries the support of the majority of Reformers —of all Reformers, indeed, who are Reformers first—and of the local executive of the Reform Party, and the decision of the local executive has been approved by the Prime Minister. Mr Andrews is a Reformer, but it was not as a Roform candidate that Ms friends put him forward. Those responsible for his candidature were merely anti-Isitt enthusiasts, and where the anti-Isitt enthusiasm had its origin has been made abundantly clear this week. The main body of the support Mr Andrews will receive will come from an organisation whose regard for Reform may bo gauged by the fact, that its organiser, Mr Howard Elliott, has hinted to its members not to support Mr Macartney against Mr McCombs. Some Reformers will be misled into imagining that they are helping Reform by voting for Mr Andrews. If these are numerous enough Mr Archer may win the seat; and we hope they will not bo numerous. The duty of the Reform voter who is concerned primarily to help the Reform Party is to vote for Mr Isitt, and thus prevent the seat from being captured by the Reds.
