MOTORING.
—♦ SOUTH ISLAND UNION". A meeting of the executive cf the South Island Motor Union ttm held kit evening. Present: M«his J. S. Hawkee (president), N. M. Oxbell, W. Tonke, F. "VV. Johnston, W. L. Minaon and P. Haxman (secretary). The New Zealand Automobile Union wrote to the efiect that the motion to work in conjunction with the South Island Union had been rescinded. It was decided to write to the Union pointing out that the South Island Union had just a> great a share in the control of motoring as the New Zealand Union. The Public Works Department wrote regarding the Nelson-Blenheim road. A copy of the Highway Act was enclosed. The Now Zealand Countii* Association wrote concerning the proposed by-law that all motor vehicles should be rrovided with mirrors. The Association would suggest to all County Councils that they sliould li.ake a -uniform by-law in thda connexion. The North Otago Motor Club Association wrote reporting that efforts were being made to form a strong association tfit-re. Several Associations wrote supporting the nomination of Mr J. 3. Hawkes as a rr.ember of the Highways Board. Messrs R. Macartney and H. C. Harley were elected members of the executive.
