SOCIALIST SUNDAY SCHOOLS.
TO THE EDITOR OP "'THE PRESS."
Sir, —In to-day's "Bress,"Mr Isitt is reported to have said in his address at Eugby street on Tuesday evening: '.'He could not understand liow Mr Archer coulcL support. Socialistic Sunday schools, the avowed object of which was to oppose and undermine the faith and teaching of every section of the Christian Church." As one of the teachers in the Socialist Sunday school, I think Mr Isitt has, unintentionally, I can well believe, made an absolutely unfounded and untrue statement. I hope he will honour us by paying a visit to our school and seeing and hearing for himself that this is so. The two mottoes of our school are: hate all'ye who enter here," and "All for each, and each for all.'' lam sure Mr Isitt will agree with me that neither of these contains anything contrary to the teachings ~of Lord Jesus.* In our book of Golden Sayings which are reverently recited by the children each Sunday are many of %. worjls of Jesus, and the only sen-, tence in it thatj could possibly justify ld[r Isitt's .accusation is- the following quotation from Ingersoll:—" The world is my country; to do good my religion.'' The Christian faith and. teaching is so precious to many of. us that I feel quite justified in asking you to publish this emphatic contradiction of Mr Isitt's words.—Yours, etc., > ANN SAUNDERS. Lavington Cottage J4^lay 's road, November Jsth, 1922.
