At the Supreme Court. to-day, before lUr Justice Seed, George Itvihe Elliott and 1 William Thomas Ferris, were'.found guilty of assaulting- William Francis O'Brien. , Toe assault, which was said to be a result. 01 O'Brien being,*Po: friendly*with,Elliott's wife, was committed' in a public" street, and O'Brien suffered » broken jaw audi bruise*. Sentence* was deferred. Lena Bright, alias. Lena Eaymond, was' found not guilty of bigamy. When the fore- ; man announced the verdict hie Honour said: l iWelli gentlemen, if you can reconcile thaH with your consciences, its your business not j mine. Accused married Joan Alfred Chaney- 1 in 1867. . In 1903, not having heard, of her husband for ninei years, she married Otto .Herman Raymond. The 'defence contended. that the lapse of years, protected the accused. Chaney turned up six days after her marriage; with Raymond and died a week later. Ac-/ cused married a third- time, a man named Bright, and : this marriage was considered' legal as her second to Raymond was not, Cnaney, her husband, being then alive. Accused therefore was a widow after his death aid free to marry Bright.
