TRUST TO THE DEPARTMENT. • (press association telegram.) WELLINGTON, November 13. The mail connexion with Picton and Nelson will be maintained by the ; Admiral, which will leave Picton for Wellington to-morrow morning, and return in the evening. The department hopes that after Wednesday it will be aoie to arrange j for a steady service to be maintained ; between Lyttelton and Wellington by Veronica, and by the Tutanekai. The latter left Bluff for Lyttelton to-day. The advice of the department to the public is to post letters and trust to the department to maintain the service. PASSENGERS FOR WELLINGTON MAY BE TAKEN BY H.M.S. CHATHAM. Mr S. J. Collett, Government Tourist Agent. Christchurch, has received oincial information that provided the Mararoa does not sail to-day H.M.S. Chatham, which is duel to sail from Lyttelton at noon for Wellington, will take male passengers over the age of sixteen. The Chatham can carry up to 1000 passengers. No charge will be made for conveyance, but passerogera must provide their own food, blankets, etc., and be prepared to sleep on deck, Under no circumstances will any alteration be made in the time set down for the sailing; of the vessel. AUCKLAND STRIKERS. NO RESUMPTION OF WOBK. (press association xsleobam.) AUCKLAND, November 18. The Kaituna's crew gave notice today, and will be paid off to-morrow. The crews of four more auxiliary vessels have given notice to the Northern Company. The Seamens' Union held a largely attended meeting this morning.
