METROPOLITAN TROTTING CLUB.

1 SPRING MEETING. SECOND DAY. The New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club will continue its Spring Meeting to-day, and everything points towards another successful day's racing. The principal event on the card, the Courtenay Handicap, of £IOOO, two miles, for horses that have done 4m 34s or better, has drawn a field of ten, including Vilo and General Link, who finished third and fourth respectively in the New Zealand Trotting Cup. Both should run we'll again, also Hal Junr. on the limit. Five high-class pacers stand their ground in the Free for All—Realm, Onyx, Chid, Trix Pointer, and Tatsy Dillon. Although Realm has been accepted for, he cannot be regarded as a certain starter, and in his absence Onyx seems to dominate the situation. The minor events have drawn some useful material, and with the short limits should provide plenty of speculation. The first race will start at 11.5 a.m., and there will be the usual frequent tram service to and from the course. The following is the programme: — 11.5 a.m.—WHITELEIGH HANDICAP (in saddle), of 3!X> sovj. For uohoppled trotters only, i.55 class. 2m.
