THE SANITARIUM HEALIII I'OOD COMPANY. Quo of the most interesting as well as instructive exhibits on the ground is that of the Sanitarium Health Food Company, of Harewood road, Papanui. The company have gone to considerable trouble and expense in prepanng a special show of their healthful food preparation and beverages. Hero, to-day and to-morrow, the company will bo demonstrating to the public the methods of cooking their great cereal food, Granose. Already widely known on account of its wonderful food value, it comprises 95.5 per cent, actual food—this preparation has gradually become & standard food for infants, children, and invalids. Sam- ! pies may bo had at the exhibit itself, I and it is a sure thing that the granose food will have many more users after ! this Show has expired. I The manager of the company extendI ed a cordial invitation to a representative of "The Press" to visit the'factory. This was accordingly availed of, and the factory, Bituated under ideal-con-ditions among trees, yet with plenty of sunlight, close to the. railway line, but yet far away from all dust and tumult, is indeed everything than can bo desired from a sanitary and hygienic point of view. It is large and well ventilated, and equipped with the very latest, mnchinery employing no less than 32 hands, all working under the very best of conditions. Our representative was shown the boiler, room, where large boilers are used for the preparation of the famous Malted Wheat Extract, which is a product of the • factory. Here also is prepared—the grain being passed through large roasters—the breakfast health beverage, "Frucerea," a coffeelike drink maae from roasted grain, which is also fast becoming known as a health tonic. The wheat used in the establishment is all thoroughly cleaned in special cleaning machines, and the human hand is little in evidence. For the patent food, Granose, the wheat, after being most carefully cleaned, is inn into a most interesting flaking machine. Each grain is crushed and flattened out, and falls on to an elevator iike large flakes of snow — light are they as snow is light—and then passed through moulds and dried in a revolving oven, from whence they are carefully taken and packed in the neat cases in which the public by the thousand buy them. The output is enormous. Our reporter saw three trucks being loaded straight from the factory, and formed some idea of the output from that fact alone. feo the people at the Show to-day and to-morrow will have the chance offered i see / n S this food being served with hot milk, cold fruit, as porridge, or served up in many styles as a quicky 1I Pare pudding or special food, •an those who can should see for themselves what this food means to the housewife, and should make a point of asiung the persons in charge for recipes tor making this food. .
