A meeting of Agents-General, held to consider the Empire Exhibition question, decided to confer with Sir Joseph Cook, High Commissioner for Australia, with reference to the following motion by Sir James Connolly, Agent-General for Western Australia: — ' That a committee, consisting of the High. Commissioners and Apents-Gon-eral and other representatives of the Colonial Governments parti.ipating in the Exhibition confer with the Executive Council for the purpose of making a. report and recommendations for the carrying out of the following policy: (1) That, as far a& practicable all building materials used in the Exhibition he drawn from the Dominions and the Colonies, with a view to demonstrating the opportunities and' prospects offered to people for residence and land settlement and the establishment of industries in the Dominions; (2) that in all contracts for catering and the sale of products, including wines and cigars, none but Dominions and Colonial products be used or sold; (3) that in letting till catering contracts first, consideration should be given to the promotion of an effective permanent selling and catering organisation within Britain, having for its solo object the promotion of the sale, use', and consumption of Dominions and Colonial produce; ;4) that consideration of the invitations contained in the Duke of Devonshire's letter be deferred till the report is received. [A message from London on October 28th said: The Duke of Devonshire has announced tha.t, in order to secure the closest' co-operation in utilising the Empire's resources to' the utmost possible extent, the Empire Exhibition Executive Council have unanimously moved : (1) That the High Commissioners of the Dominions shall bo chairmen of the group committees and the Cblonieg and Protectorates shall bo invited to become members of Che Council. (2) That the High CbmmisKioners shall be im;ited to join the Management Committee with the Commissioner in charge of each Dominion' 9 exhibit as an alternative member. (3) That as the Council's policy is thnt the materials and supplies required' for the service of the Exhibition shall be produced within the Empire, a sub-committee shall be appoint- . Ed consisting of three representatives of the Council, two members nominated by the High Commissioners, and one representing the Colonies and Protectorates to report on the best method of achieving this end.]
