FRUIT FOR THE PEOPLE.

TO THE EDITOR OF "THE PRESS." . Sir, —Someone singing himself "Fruitarian" in this morning's paper says, •for instance, "once bring the price of fruit -within reach of the worker, and the rest will follow." What about "Fruitarian" having a go with a few trees in his own tack-yard. It will be beneficial in three ways. , First, he will have the fruit. Secondj he will know the work connected with it. tThird, he will have helped to lower the cost lie complains about. I should advise him to start with six trees,. if he has about an eighth to a quarter acre of ground. We find John Bull (if the name does not hurt him;, Kentish Fillbasket, Cox's Orange, Lord Wolseley (2), Sturmer, very good for a succession Crop. Lots of room left for vegetables. A few Saturday afternoons ,'or (during football season), a couple of hours on Sunday morning, accompanied by a suitable spray, will keep the trees in good form. Have a try, Mr Fruitarian ; you'll get a lot of fun and a fair amount of 'fruit. —Yours, etc., M.C.T. May 19th.
